A Vision Has Become a Working Model! An interview with Dr. Zoltán Nagy, President and CEO of the John von Neumann University

Two years ago, a promise of a change in approach emerged in a discussion about the future of John von Neumann University. We spoke with Zoltán Nagy, the newly appointed president and CEO, who came from a multinational corporate environment at the time, about market-oriented operations, strengthening industrial relations, building an innovation ecosystem, and opening internationally, mostly in the future tense. Two years later, the university president visited our editorial office again.

International attention on Kecskemét! John von Neumann University strengthens the global visibility of the region

Ambassadors and diplomatic representatives accredited to Hungary arrived at John von Neumann University in Kecskemét, representing Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan. Higher education institutions in Central and Eastern Europe are currently one of the most attractive destinations for students from the East and Central Asian region, who view Hungary as a disciplined, financially strong country that also shows outstanding interest in national scholarship programs. 

Neumann Students in the Chinese City of Zhengzhou

At the beginning of the year, with the support of the Pannonia Scholarship Program, more than ten students from John von Neumann University had the opportunity to participate in a Winter Camp held in the Chinese city of Zhengzhou, organized by SIAS University.

PhD application

The John von Neumann University Doctoral School of Management and Business Administration (https://nje.hu/en/education/the-doctoral-school) is open to professionals with a Master's degree who are interested in academic work and would like to deepen their knowledge in one of our sub-programmes ('Bioeconomy and Sustainability’, ‘Business Management and Business Digitalisation’ and ‘Finance and Financial Digitalisation’) through academic research and thus obtain a PhD degree.

Rectors' Council in Koszalin, Poland

During meetings held on 17th and 18th June, rectors from the 9 EU4Dual universities met in Koszalin and were updated on developments linked to the ongoing development of the EU4Dual Alliance.

JvNU opens branch in Dubai

Hungary's most innovative university will be permanently represented in Dubai, the most populous and advanced emirate of the United Arab Emirates. The establishment of the branch office is part of the short-term development concept of John von Neumann University, which aims to reach its target of 5,000 students by recruiting at least 20% international students.

TEDx Salon at John von Neumann University

The latest workshop of the John von Neumann University Hydrogen Technology Knowledge Centre was held in a style-changing format on 17 April 2024, making the first TEDx John von Neumann University Salon on hydrogen the first event of the International Week.

4th INTERNATIONAL ERASMUS WEEK

John von Neumann University is pleased to announce its 4th International Erasmus Week from 15 April to 19 April 2024. It will be an opportunity for coordinators, academic and administrative staff to increase cooperation among institutions.

RSAI 2024

For one week this April, Kecskemét and John von Neumann University will literally become the centre of the scientific world. The 14th World Congress of the Regional Science Association International (RSAI) in Kecskemét has so far attracted more than 390 speakers from 50 countries around the world. Most of the professional participants will arrive from China, but the representation is also strong from Italy, Romania, Japan, the United States of America, Spain, Brazil and Turkey.

Senior University year-end at John von Neumann University

This year's series of lectures organised in cooperation with the Cédrusnet Kecskemét Programme at the Hírös Senior John von Neumann University has come to an end on 29.11.2023. This year, representatives of the 55+ age group participated in 13 scientific, educational and cultural lectures.

JvNU-UNIST (South Korea) agreement

UNIST (Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology) located in Ulsan, South Korea, and John von Neumann University Kecskemét, Hungary have jointly signed a memorandum of understanding. 

GEOVISION launched at the COP28 UN global climate summit

Dr Norbert Csizmadia, President of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for John von Neumann University in Kecskemét, Hungary, presented his book ‘Geovision: Sustainability and Eurasia’, a double-volume in English, at the COP28 Global Climate Summit in the United Arab Emirates.

Third EU4Dual Rector's Council

John von Neumann University, Kecskemét hosted the annual meeting of the EU4Dual Rectors' Conference, at the end of which the evergreen pine tree symbolizing the alliance, unity and future of the 9 universities was planted by the rectors of the universities in the front garden of the CAMPUS building.

The European Association for International Education (EAIE) held this year's international higher education conference and exhibition in Rotterdam from 26-29 September 2023, where our university was also represented.

EU4Dual Alliance Meeting to Address Major Societal Challenges through dual higher education

The EU4Dual Alliance, an unprecedented collaboration of nine leading dual university institutions in Europe, proudly announces the adoption of its first work-plan, during a meeting which has taken place in Malta on June 19 and 20, 2023. The rectors of each of the nine institutions have come together to plan the implementation of the mission & vision of the alliance and organise the contribution of their respective universities to its operations.

Unveiling Event of the SUPERMOTO at John von Neumann University

Developers of the ProjectSupermoto concept motorcycle have set out to design a vehicle suitable for road and street use. The participants of the project were students and lecturers from the Institute of Vehicle Design at the MOME Budapest Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design and students and colleagues from the Department of Innovative Vehicles and Materials at the GAMF Faculty of Engineering and Informatics at the Neumann János University.
