Support Services for Non-EU Students
(Language Assistance and Additional Support)
- At the start of each semester, the International Office holds an Orientation Week for new international students. This week includes helpful presentations on daily life in Hungary, the city of Kecskemét (like public transport, dormitory rules, health insurance), and important legal information (such as visa and residence permit procedures).
- If you're an international student from outside the EU/EEA with a student residence permit (or applying for one), you cannot get a separate residence permit for your family to join you in Hungary.
- In case of any questions or concerns, students are always welcome to contact the staff of the International Office in person (GAMF campus, Building 5., ground floor).
- Further information: https://nje.hu/en/international-students/admission
- At this moment, two scholarship programs are available for our international students: the Pannónia Scholarship Programme and the Stipendium Hungaricum Programme. Pannónia Scholarship Programme offers opportunities for both short- and long-term mobility, while Stipendium Hungaricum provides full tuition coverage for the most outstanding applicants.
- JvNU is actively working on introducing further benefits to support the everyday lives of our international students. All students are informed in due time about any new support opportunities via official mail.
- If you're an international student from outside the EU/EEA with a student residence permit (or applying for one), you cannot get a separate residence permit for your family to join you in Hungary.
Career perspectives, post-study opportunities
- Kecskemét is a dynamically developing industrial, commercial and cultural centre. The town hosts workshops and unique collections of music, fine arts and animations of international fame, and recognised scientific institutions. For more information about sights, historical places, and leisure activity opportunities in Kecskemét, click here.
- International students are allowed to work 30 hours/week during a semester, in parallel with their university studies. Non-EU citizens with residence permits for study purposes can pursue income-earning activities in full time for no more than 30 hours a week during a term (a semester) and for no more than 90 days or 66 working days outside the terms.
- For certain study programs, the internship is part of the curriculum. Information about internship opportunities can be provided by the program coordinator lecturers/course coordinator professors.
- The International Office is not responsible for arranging internships for international students; however, we encourage international students to attend our university's job fair events, where international exhibitors also participate. Additionally, a career coach (psychologist) is also available at our university and can support international students with career advice as well.
- The university collaborates with several international companies and student job cooperatives, some of which offer internship programs that accept international students. However, applying for these internship programs requires the individual initiative and active contribution of the international student, including researching opportunities and coordinating with their program coordinator/mentor.
