Internship information

 

WHAT IS AN INTERNSHIP?

Nftv (Hungarian Higher Education Law): work placement: partially independent student activity in higher education vocational education and training, in bachelor, master and part-time courses, in external training centres or in training centres of higher education institutions.

 

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE INTERNSHIP?

Combining theoretical and practical knowledge in the workplace or job appropriate to the qualification.

Developing workers' competences in the work processes required to practise the occupation.

Developing knowledge and practical skills in materials, tools and technology, as well as personal relationships and cooperation in work processes, evaluation and self-evaluation in solving tasks, and innovation skills.

 

VOCATIONAL TRAINING PLACE 

A legal entity or business organisation that provides a continuous work placement in a higher education vocational training, bachelor's or master's programme on the basis of a cooperation agreement with the higher education institution and a student employment contract with the student.

 

DURATION OF THE INTERNSHIP

Mechanical Engineer BSc

6 weeks (240 hours)

Vehicle engineer BSc

6 weeks (240 hours)

Computer Science Engineering BSc

8 weeks (320 hours)

DOCUMENTS RELATING TO THE INTERNSHIP

Hosting Declaration - this is a declaration by the host organisation/company that they will host the student for the work placement. The Hosting Declaration should be filled-in with all the requested information, stamped and signed.

Cooperation Agreement - an agreement between the University and the placement company to host the student for the placement in the manner required by law.

Student Employment Contract - signed between the placement agency/company and the student for the duration of the placement. The University has no formal or substantive requirements for this document.

Certificate of Completion - the placement is certified by the place/company where the placement was completed.

Work placement report – The student should write a minimum 5 page report on the work carried out at the work placement/company (max 1 page on the company and max 20 % on pictures) in English language.

 

THE PROCEDURE FOR MANAGING THE INTERNSHIP 

The student is looking for a place/company to do the internship.

The student fills in the Hosting Declaration and the company representative has to sign and stamp the Hosting Declaration document.

The student submits the Hosting Declaration to the administration of the department in charge of his/her degree programme/specialisation.

On the basis of the Hosting Declaration, the departmental administrator prepares the Cooperation Agreement and sends it to the company (the student has no role here).

The company and the student conclude a Student Employment Contract.

 

At the end of the Internship 

The student fills in the Certificate of Completion of the Internship with the company and writes the Work placement report.

The student uploads the Certificate of Completion and the Work placement report on the NEPTUN (university administration system for studies) system (according to the instructions for submitting the application for the subject on the NEPTUN message board).

HOW DOES THE INTERNSHIP FIT INTO NEPTUN?

The Internship course must be taken in the semester in which you have already fulfilled the credit requirements and are sure to complete the internship by the end of the semester.

 

The prerequisite for admission to the Internship course:

Mechanical Engineer BSc

165 credits

Vehicle engineer BSc

165 credits

Computer Science Engineering BSc

100 credits

OTHER WAYS OF COMPLETING THE INTERNSHIP: 

The student requests an exemption from the Internship. The exemption can be granted if the student can prove that he/she has been employed in the field of specialisation for at least the minimum duration of the Internship. The request must be submitted to NEPTUN (Request for credit based on work and other experience in weeks 5 to 13 of the semester).
