Delegation of John von Neumann University visits Nakhchivan University
The delegation of John von Neumann University – led by Sándor Lezsák, Deputy Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly and curator of the John von Neumann University Foundation – paid an official visit to Azerbaijan, at Nakhchivan State University. Members of the delegation included Norbert Csizmadia, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Szabolcs Szemerey, Strategic Director, Ernő Keskeny, retired ambassador, and Habib Kohi, International Director. The Hungarian guests were received by Elbrus Isayev, Rector of Nakhchivan State University.
One of the most important outcomes of the visit was the agreement between the two institutions to jointly launch a new international bachelor's program in computer engineering in September 2025. The program aims to provide students with modern, practice-oriented knowledge, tailored to the industrial and technological needs of both countries.
The members of the delegation and the hosts also discussed numerous further cooperation opportunities. Among other things, preparations began for an international Neumann conference to be held in Azerbaijan, and there was also talk of launching further joint training programs and research projects. During the discussions, the development of cultural relations played a prominent role, which both parties consider crucial for the long-term success of university cooperation.
The visit concluded with a special cultural event: teachers and students from the acting department of Nakhchivan State University performed Sándor Lezsák's play "80 Buckets of Air" in Azerbaijani. The performance was a great success and also served as a special gesture to deepen Hungarian-Azerbaijani cultural relations.
The visit confirmed that John von Neumann University is committed to building international scientific and cultural relations and actively strives to provide students with internationally competitive training and development opportunities.
