UNIST (Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology) located in Ulsan, South Korea, and John von Neumann University Kecskemét, Hungary have jointly signed a memorandum of understanding. 

UNIST (Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology) located in Ulsan, South Korea, and John von Neumann University Kecskemét, Hungary have jointly signed a memorandum of understanding. Thanks to the cooperation agreement, in the future we will further strengthen our joint scientific programmes with the Korean university involving professors, and students in various research projects.

Norbert Csizmadia, President of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for John von Neumann University, Szabolcs Szemerey, Director of Strategy, Dávid Kis, Director of JvNU Hydrogen Technology Research Centre, Mr. Lajos István Musza, Science and Technology Counsellor at the Hungarian Embassy in Seoul, Mina Lee, Business Policy Analyst from the International Office of John von Neumann University visited the UNIST campus for a meeting. Among the hosts were Younghoon Lee, President of UNIST and also one of the strongest candidates for the post of Minister of Science and ICT in 2024, Myung-Hoon Lee, Director of Planning and Budget, and Hankwon Lim, Director of the Carbon Neutrality Demonstration and Research Centre at UNIST.

UNIST was established by the UNIST bill that was passed in 2007 by the request of the people and the city of Ulsan. In 2009, the institution opened its doors to welcome its first class of undergraduate students. It is a rapidly emerging university that plays a significant role in science and technology R&D at national level. In 2021, UNIST was ranked 178th in the Times Higher Education world rankings, 21st in Asia, 5th in Korea, and 5th in the world ranking of the youngest universities.

We are confident that the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding is the beginning of a fruitful relationship that will bring JvNU similar international recognition in the future.
