JvNU strengthens with nearly 5000 students

This year, Hungarian higher education saw a record number of applications. Based on the admission results published on July 23, 2025, John von Neumann University in Kecskemét once again achieved an outstanding performance, with over 1650 students admitted. This remarkable figure means the university has maintained the highest enrollment level in its history.

This strong admission performance clearly indicates growing student confidence and John von Neumann University's increased market share across several fields of study within Hungarian higher education. As a result, the university's total student count is projected to approach 5000 at the start of the autumn semester, marking a strategic milestone for its operations. This record number of applications is not only a sign of progress but also a critical foundation for sustainable and competitive operation. Upon reviewing the admission results, Dr. habil Tamás Fülöp, Rector of the university, expressed confidence in the future.

John von Neumann University remains dedicated to practice-oriented, innovative, and student-centered programs that effectively address the challenges of the 21st-century job market. "We are proud that more and more prospective students are choosing us as their first choice. This reinforces that we are on the right path: our quality education, robust corporate collaborations, and exceptional student experience collectively make our university appealing," emphasized the Rector.

GAMF Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science Continues to Lead

According to the latest data, the GAMF Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science saw a 12% increase in the number of students starting their full-time undergraduate studies compared to last year. This is particularly noteworthy given national enrollment trends. Demand for engineering programs remains the highest, with over 20% growth in full-time student numbers for vehicle engineering, logistics engineering, and computer engineering undergraduate programs. This year, the faculty's logistics engineering undergraduate program achieved an outstanding national performance, ranking first in the country based on first-choice applications. Based on the 2025 admission scores, nearly 30% more students will begin their studies here compared to the previous period. The GAMF Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science continues to be the university's flagship, independently attracting over 1100 new students. The increasing prominence of technical and IT programs clearly demonstrates that young people are investing in long-term, future-proof knowledge, and they find all this readily available in Kecskemét.

Faculty of Economic Sciences Experiences Significant Growth

John von Neumann University's Faculty of Economics also performed exceptionally well this year. The popularity of economics programs remains strong. In Kecskemét, similar to last year, nearly four hundred students chose the faculty's programs, an outstanding figure once again. Beyond traditional economics and management programs, areas related to the digital economy, business development, business innovation, and artificial intelligence are gaining significant importance. Furthermore, programs focusing on tourism and hospitality are becoming increasingly popular. While business administration and management programs are the most sought-after, many also applied for finance and accounting, which is now available as a correspondence program. The MBA program also enjoys sustained popularity, enhancing the professional expertise of corporate specialists in the region with master-level economic knowledge. Since last year, the Faculty of Economic Sciences' entire training portfolio has been available in English. The modern campus environment and the exceptional ECO scholarship program for self-financed students continue to offer the best choice in the region. Applications for self-financed programs are still open during the supplementary admission period, and the ECO scholarship program, which covers nearly 50% of the tuition fee, is also accessible to students admitted through supplementary admission, providing substantial support for university expenses.

Faculty of Horticulture and Rural Development Shows Consistent Growth

The Faculty of Horticulture and Rural Development continued its steady, multi-year growth this year: the number of students admitted to the faculty has more than tripled since 2020. This trend clearly demonstrates that programs related to agriculture, sustainability, and green innovation are becoming increasingly appealing to the younger generation. The strengths of the Faculty of Horticulture and Rural Development include its supportive educational atmosphere, experience-based learning, and the provision of practical, real-world solutions to challenges like climate change, food security, and sustainable production.
