John von Neumann University hosted a high-level Vietnamese university delegation. The leadership of HUTECH University of Technology, which has more than 40,000 students, considers the Kecskemét-based institution to be its first university partner in Hungary. The visit focused on joint degree programs scheduled to launch as early as the upcoming fall semester.

Leaders from HUTECH—ranked as the sixth-best university in Vietnam—including the chairman and vice chairman of the board of directors and several deans, visited Kecskemét. The institution already collaborates with universities in Estonia and Poland in Central and Eastern Europe, but this is the first time it has established a relationship with a Hungarian university, specifically John von Neumann University.

Cooperation between the two institutions began in 2025 with a visit by a Neumann delegation to Vietnam, during which the two institutions signed a cooperation agreement. During the recent negotiations, led on the Hungarian side by Rector Dr. habil. Tamás Fülöp, discussions focused on preparing English-language degree programs leading to dual degrees. Under the planned 2+2-year program, students would study for two years in Vietnam and two years in Hungary, primarily in the fields of engineering, computer science, and economics.

Vietnamese leaders emphasized that, building on the decades-long relationship between the two countries, they would like to draw young people’s attention to opportunities for further education in Hungary. What makes John von Neumann University a particularly attractive partner is its practice-oriented educational system, its experience with dual education, its international student recruitment practices based on personal relationships, and Kecskemét’s prominent industrial environment.

Partnerships with universities—such as HUTECH—that have significant international networks can open up new opportunities beyond joint degree programs. These partnerships can pave the way for connections to international university alliances, research collaborations, and other higher education networks, further strengthening John von Neumann University’s international presence.

The next step following the meeting in Kecskemét is to finalize the details of the joint training programs, with the goal of launching the first programs as early as the fall of 2027.
