The 2026/2027 academic year officially began on September 7, 2026, with the opening ceremony at John von Neumann University, where 2,329 new students are set to begin their studies. Among the new students are 581 international students.
In the 2026–2027 academic year, every faculty at JvNU is welcoming a significant number of new students. A total of 1,117 students were admitted to the GAMF Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science, 406 to the Faculty of Economics and Business, and 225 to the Faculty of Horticulture and Rural Development. The university’s international community is also growing stronger, with 581 international students beginning their studies in Kecskemét.
At the opening ceremony of the academic year, Dr. habil. Tamás Fülöp, rector of John von Neumann University, welcomed the students as they began the new academic year. In assessing the results of the past academic year, he emphasized that the university had maintained its competitiveness, professional reputation, network of relationships, and appeal in the rapidly changing higher education environment.
“The university’s mission goes far beyond the curriculum and the mere transfer of knowledge. Here at JvNU, we aim to impart knowledge, a way of thinking, a set of values, a network of connections, and a vision for the future to young people,” stated Dr. habil. Tamás Fülöp.
The first week of the academic year is dedicated to registration. Information and community booths await students, where new undergraduates can obtain important information about their studies and get to know key figures in the university’s student life. Right from the first few days, Registration Week offers students the opportunity to explore the world of university volunteering, student-led communities, and student initiatives, and to join teams whose community-building power and achievements make them a unique part of János Neumann University. In this spirit, KÖZÖS., the Student Government, the Student Service Center, and the Kenji Racing Team will all be introducing themselves throughout the week.
In the coming days, new and returning students can look forward to a number of community events. The KVK Get-Together, the Gazdász Picnic, and NESZT all serve this purpose.
One of the first major community events of the academic year, the Neumann Enter FESZT, will welcome students on September 9, 2026, at the JvNU CAMPUS, where the focus will be on music, community programs, and the more casual side of college life.
