John von Neumann University has signed a cooperation agreement with the German Cultural Center in Hungary in Baja and its affiliated institution, the “Mercedes-Benz Schule” German school.
At the event, Dr. habil. Tamás Fülöp, rector of John von Neumann University, emphasized in his opening remarks that; the connection with secondary education is very important because the university plays a crucial role in helping young people with career guidance and defining their vision for the future; in recent years, there have been several initiatives aimed at familiarizing high school students with the institution’s academic offerings.
“I think the message is very important: when a secondary school and a higher education institution collaborate, we can show young people and students that their learning opportunities do not end with the completion of secondary education, the most talented and capable young people can also earn a degree in higher education, supplement their knowledge with the latest, scientifically grounded information, and thereby build a much more substantial and wide-ranging career.”
Peter Stübler, director of the German General Education Center in Baja, Hungary, described the collaboration between the institutions as one of the most joyful events of the school year. The Mercedes-Benz Schule in Kecskemét is one of a network of 140 German-language schools operating worldwide. Their guiding principle is not to operate in isolation, but to consciously and actively seek connections with the residents, culture, and institutions of their host countries.
In Kecskemét, the focus of the university remains on German-language education, emphasized Dr. Zoltán Nagy, the university’s president and CEO, who is personally committed to strengthening and promoting German culture at the university and who would take on a mentoring role in launching German-language programs within the university.
