Interest in the John von Neumann University is on the rise, with over five thousand students enrolled at the institution this year. At the open day held on November 14, 2025, approximately 1,200 young people explored the educational programs, laboratories, and faculty. Visitors gained firsthand insight not only into the majors but also into scholarship opportunities, student projects, and valuable experiences.

All three faculties were presented at the event, where attendees participated in lectures, workshops, and demonstrations of student projects.

Particular attention was paid to the presentation by the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science. The lecture hall was full of young people who listened eagerly to the report from the captain of the JvNU Solar Team. He shared the excitement of building solar-powered cars and detailed how the team prepares for international competitions.

“We have student teams that compete in various challenges year after year; we build engines and race cars, undertaking tasks on par with the largest technical universities. We test ourselves and our students across Europe, or even globally, and we bring home some truly impressive results,” said Dr. Krisztián Kun, an associate professor and the captain of the JvNU Solar Team.

Csaba Levente Szalkai, who came from Táncsics Grammar School in Orosháza, is primarily drawn to the world of cars and engines. He is hoping to join the Vehicle Engineering Program and used the open day to gather all the necessary information for his decision. “The teachers seem kind, and the helpers were also friendly; registration was easy. They had cars on display, and we could speak with their industry partners. I learned everything I wanted to know,” he summarized his experience.

Students currently attending the university also enthusiastically recommend the institution to those making career choices. According to Nóra Kárpáti, the community is highly supportive, and the standard of education is excellent. “We have a great community, we organize many social programs, we receive a lot of support from our mentors, and the instruction is top-notch,” the student explained.

Around 1,200 people registered for the university's open day. The university's Rector, Dr. habil. Tamás Fülöp, stated that the academic offerings of the three faculties, the laboratories, modern development facilities, and scholarship programs are continually attracting more young people. “Here at the university, students can take part in a practice-oriented training that leads to a diploma highly valued by the job market. We are very proud that our corporate partners also attended this event. We have built strong relationships through our dual training programs and professional internships, allowing us to strengthen this region and this community together,” emphasized Dr. habil. Tamás Fülöp, the Rector of the John von Neumann University.

The admissions process begins at the start of the year, with minimum scores to be determined in July. Based on the trends of recent years, the Rector anticipates that the student body will continue to grow next year, potentially reaching 1,700–1,800 applicants. The institution has now reached a significant milestone: surpassing the five-thousand student threshold, with 5,300 students currently studying at the John von Neumann University.
