The UniTech Construction Competition 2025 CLASS is one of the most complex domestic university engineering competitions, where the participating teams had to prove their engineering knowledge, creativity, and teamwork with a combine-harvester prototype of their own design and construction.
The "Kombi Kombájnosok" (Combi Combine Harvesters) team, made up of students from John von Neumann University, finished in 5th place in the national final among the ten best Hungarian university teams.
During the competition, the machines were evaluated based on three main criteria:
- Mobility (2 x weight)
- Harvesting (3 x weight)
- Endurance (1 x weight)
The final brought extremely close results:
- 1st place – 57 points
- 2nd place – 51 points
- 3rd place – 43 points
- 4th place – 41 points
- 5th place – Neumann Combi Combine Harvesters – 39 points
Our team was still in 4th place after the harvesting event, but technical difficulties during the endurance test caused them to narrowly miss the podium with fewer points, thus securing the overall 5th place.
The students used innovative construction solutions in the machine's drive system and harvesting mechanism, which earned the recognition of the jury.
"The team members proudly represented John von Neumann University, our goal is to stand on the podium next year with a further developed combine system!" said one of the students.
