For the sixth time, the “Made in Kecskemét” course has been launched at John von Neumann University (JvNU). This unique program brings together leaders from various divisions of Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary Kft. to deliver lectures to students. The primary goal is to give students a direct, hands-on insight into world-class automotive production and offer unparalleled professional networking opportunities.
The semester-long course traditionally kicks off with the managing director of the Kecskemét plant, Jens Bühler. Company leaders share their expertise in both German and Hungarian, with a simultaneous interpretation system ensuring a seamless learning experience. This means all interested students are welcome, regardless of their foreign language proficiency.
The inaugural session was particularly memorable! As part of his plenary address, the plant director hosted an exciting quiz game. The winner was rewarded with an unforgettable experience drive in a Mercedes AMG GT model.
The “Made in Kecskemét” course is a collaborative initiative between JvNU's GAMF Faculty of Engineering and Informatics and Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary Kft. Far from being just an elective or a supplementary program, it serves as a significant milestone in JvNU’s mission to be a key driver of success for both the local and national economy. This collaboration clearly demonstrates how shared objectives and mutual cooperation fuel development between the university and major market players.
This course’s impact extends beyond education. This model of collective thinking helps define new directions for research and development, supports human resource planning and talent pipeline development, can influence demographic trends, and ultimately shapes the economic structure of the region and the entire country.
The “Made in Kecskemét” program underscores a vital priority: the need for the university and its industrial partners to operate as a tightly integrated network, where both sides are comfortable and active in the other’s domain. Only through such a durable and mutually supportive cooperation can we simultaneously strengthen the regional economy, foster students’ professional growth, and contribute to the long-term success of the companies involved.
