Dr Imran Sarihasan Soylu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of International Trade and Business at Samsun University, Türkiye. Her research focuses on international migration, immigrant entrepreneurship, labour market integration, sustainability, and gender dynamics in entrepreneurship. Her work particularly explores how migration, entrepreneurship, and institutional structures interact to shape economic inclusion, social mobility, and sustainable development.

Dr Sarihasan completed her PhD in Business and Management at the University of Debrecen in Hungary (2020), graduating summa cum laude with support from the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship. She began her master’s studies in Türkiye and later continued her education through the Erasmus+ Programme supported by the European Union, completing the remainder of her master’s degree at the University of Foggia in Italy. During her doctoral studies, she received the Best Research Award at the Károly Ihrig Doctoral School Conference in 2017 in recognition of her research excellence.

She was awarded the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship and conducted her postdoctoral research at the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw. Her postdoctoral project, “Persisting Immigrant Entrepreneurship during the Economic Downturn due to COVID-19 in European Member States,” examined the resilience strategies and survival mechanisms of immigrant entrepreneurs during economic crises. Dr Sarihasan Soylu is currently working on the research project “Structural Bias in Immigrant Entrepreneurship: Sectoral Impacts on Success and Integration,” which examines how structural inequalities influence entrepreneurial opportunities and business performance among immigrant entrepreneurs across various sectors. She is affiliated with the Souththink Solution Research Centre and is a member of the Organisation for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD). She also belongs to the Sociology of Migration Research Group at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

Dr Sarihasan  Soylu actively contributes to the international academic community and serves as a reviewer for several prestigious journals, including the Journal of Enterprising Communities: People and Places in the Global Economy, the Scandinavian Journal of Management, and Administrative Sciences. Her research has been presented at numerous international conferences. She presented the findings of her postdoctoral project at  The Migration Conference in Mexico, where she also chaired the Economics of Migration session. In 2023, she co-organised the international conference “Empowerment, Opportunity, Necessity: Immigrant Entrepreneurship in a Globalised World” together with Katarzyna Andrejuk.

Beyond her academic research, Dr Sarihasan Soylu actively engages in science communication and academic outreach. In 2025, she delivered an invited talk at the  Central Black Sea Career Fair (OKAF), where she discussed how students can integrate into academic life and what to expect after their university journey. In 2023, she delivered a public talk titled “United in Diversity” on Radio Pałac. She also gave a talk titled “Why Should We Do Science?” as part of the Pasific Smart Talks series organised by the Polish Academy of Sciences.
