Department of Horticulture

Staff in the Department of Horticulture are mainly involved in teaching courses related to cultivation (the growing of ornamental plants, vegetable production, fruit production, viticulture) and organising the related practical sessions. Besides teaching, they take part in research projects run by the Horticultural Workshop as well as other research centres and producer organisations. Sixty-two percent of the instructors in department hold an academic degree, 25 percent are doctoral students, and 10 percent are habilitated doctors. The teaching staff teach on all the courses offered by the faculty, while also carrying out research projects in the Environmental Science and Analytical Workshop. The department contributes to the service-related activities of the faculty (practice farmland, laboratory), and has implemented numerous successful projects in the framework of awarded tenders.
